AIPT is a non-profit international educational exchange
organization that sponsors and facilitates on-the-job and
in-the-laboratory practical training exchanges for students and
professionals between the United States and more than 60 other
countries. AIPT also offers short-term experiential learning
programs for professionals and students from many fields and

The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) is a
non-governmental organization which administers a wide variety
of educational activities in Canada and abroad. CBIE produces
"What in the World is Going On?" This guide lists work
and study opportunities for all levels of experience. CBIE
manages several scholarship programs including the CIDA Awards
program for Canadians and the Celanese Canada Internationalist
Fellowships, which offer study and work opportunites overseas.

Career Edge

organization, Career Edge's mandate is to enhance youth
employability. Graduates of university, college and high
school gain practical, career-related experience through 6-, 9-
or 12-month paid internships with Canadian businesses.
Internships are available in a wide variety of industries with

EARTHWATCH Institute is an international nonprofit organization
which supports scientific field research worldwide through its
volunteers and scientists working together to improve our
understanding of the planet. Through public participation in
field research, Earthwatch helps scientists gather data and
communicate information that will empower people and governments
to act wisely as global citizens.Earthwatch offers its members
the opportunity to work side by side with distinguished field
scientists in their work in seven focused areas of sponsored
research: World Oceans; World Forests; Biodiversity; Cultural
Diversity; Learning from the Past; Monitoring Global Change;
World Health. In 1999, the organization will sponsor 145
projects in 51 countries and 23 states. Projects are divided
into roughly one to three-week-long teams to enable members of
the public to participate, with successive teams over the
research duration.

The program helps youth between the ages of 15-30, who are
unemployed and under-employed high school, college and
university graduates. Young people with proficiency in
information and communication technology (ICT) acquire valuable
employability skills to secure longer-term careers in technology
by gaining relevant, marketable work terms in schools and
